Bring in More Savings for Your Business
The main goal of any business is to make every penny count, which means you would want to save as much money as possible on all company operations. If there is one element of your business you can save lots of money on, it's energy. What's interesting is that most of the things you can do to cut back on unnecessary use of energy can be applied in minutes and at little or no cost at all. Here are some eco-friendly practices you can apply to your business that will surely help you save hard-earned money.
Lighting
You may not realize it, but lighting is one of the biggest consumers of energy. In your case, you can easily reduce lighting energy consumption without affecting the productivity of your workers. The key here is to choose to turn on the lights in areas that need light at that moment. And instead of using large overhead lighting, use task lighting with lower wattages. Investing in LED lighting can also help you save lots of money. Most LEDs have a lifespan of 50,000 hours, being able to last 41 times longer than incandescent bulbs and 6.25 times than CFLs. The annual operation cost for LED is estimated at $32 a year for thirty bulbs, which means you can save at least $290 a year if you replace all your incandescent bulbs to LED bulbs.
Cooling System
Improving the efficiency of the cooling system in your workplace during the summer can save you a significant amount of energy and money. Believe it or not, setting your thermostat even just a degree higher will allow you to save lots of energy. If possible, set your thermostat to a permanent temperature just enough to cool the workplace, and lock it there. This way, your workers won't be tempted to keep on adjusting it. During the hot season, require your workers to wear comfortable clothing. This alone will help keep the entire workplace cooler. And if possible, have your air conditioning system checked at least every three hours to make sure it is functioning efficiently.
Major Electronic Devices
For major electronic devices and gadgets such as laptops or desktop computers, photocopying machines, fax machines, and refrigerators, the key is to make use of these devices' energy-saving features. These features are not there for nothing, so do your best to learn them and have your employees learn them as well.
Laptop computers may be more expensive than desktops, but in the long run, you'll be able to save more energy and money on laptops because they use lesser energy than desktops. In choosing printers, go for inkjet because they use up to 90 percent less energy than laser
